The shrine is a national monument of Zimbabwe. The work was undertaken by the Government to commemorate those who fell in the struggle for national liberation and the contemporary and future sons and daughters of Zimbabwe whose dedication and commitment to the nation justify their burial at this sacred spot. Group will be taken on a 2hrs guided Tour of the Falls –one of the world’s natural wonders and one of the most spectacular natural sites in the world. The Falls are 1,7km long with a volume of 9 million liters’ per second tearing down at a vertical drop of 100metres.The vapour can be clearly seen from a distance of 30km hence it’s indigenous name Mosi –oa-Tunya meaning “the smoke that thunders”. Take a walk through the knife –edged bridge for a spectacular view up the main gorge and of the eastern cataract. A walk down to the boiling pot provides view from the base of the falls and the falls bridge above the gorge. Downstream of the falls, the river has carved a tortuous route through the soft basalt rock forming a deep gorge in a tight zigzag course for some 8 kilometers. Domboshava is a village in the province of. Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe It is located in an area of granite hills about 27 km north of Harare. The village is named after a large granite hill near the village. There are several rock formations at the top of the hill which have been formed by natural erosion. The hill, and rocks, are covered with lichen. There are three colours of lichen at Domboshava: red, green and grey.The name is derived from dombo meaning and shava (pronounced shawa) meaning (dombo is in fact the Shona word for rock / stone – gomo is the common name for a hill – and dzvuku is the general word for red, shava is a local dialectual term)The site has some examples of cave paintings which date back almost 6000 years. The majority of these paintings can be found in a cave which is some walk from the rock formations at the top of the hill. There is also a hole in the cave that leads to the top hill.
